Bear River is a picturesque village with breathtaking views of tidal river, restaurant, coffee shop, book store, art gallery and local artists and artisan shop. It is close to Digby and Annapolis Royal. It is central to South West Nova Scotia and about 2 1/2 hours from Halifax, 1 1/2 hours from Yarmouth (ferry from Portland), 20 minutes from Digby (ferry from St. John, N.B.). Many day trips possible from Bear River including Annapolis Royal, Fort Anne, the Habitation, Kejimkujik National Park, many festivals and local celebrations, music, whale watching on Brier Island, Bay of Fundy tours, natal days like Scallop Days, the Bear River Cherry Festival, Digby County Exhibition (on our street) and more! In Bear River you have a restaurant, Myrtle & Rosie's which is very good, and a local Art Gallery and shop, The Flight of Fancy, nice viewing of tidal river, and an excellent coffee shop which often invites local artists to display their work and local musicians to play. Golf at the Digby Pines, 20 minutes away. Also many other golf courses around, as well as hiking trails, boat tours. Gael Tours offers Sea Shore Ramble.
